In the month of Isfand 1309 (February-March 1931), the first issue of Nāmah-i Tamaddun was published in Mashhad under the management of Sayyid ʻAlī Tamaddun-i Khurāsānī. Nāmah-i Tamaddun was a political, scientific, literary, and social magazine, and until the year 1310 (1931-1932), a complete series of 12 issues was regularly published, after which it was discontinued. In the spring of 1329 (1950), ʻAlī Tamaddun suddenly passed away due to a heart attack, and his brother Aḥmad Tamaddunī, who had been assisting him during the publication of the first series, transferred the licence of Nāmah-i Tamaddun to his own name and independently undertook to reprint it.
The first issue of the second series of the periodical was published after twenty years in Mihr 1330 (September-October 1951).
