Modern Slavery Statement
Opars is committed to ethical business practices and to the eradication of modern slavery in all its forms. Although our turnover is below the threshold requiring a statutory statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily publish this statement to demonstrate our commitment to human rights. Our Business and Supply Chain
We are a UK-based digital reseller specialising in academic and archival digital content. Our supply chain is primarily digital, involving the acquisition of licences and digital files from publishers and cultural institutions.
Our Policy
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships.
Due Diligence and Risk Management
Given the nature of our business (digital goods), we assess the risk of modern slavery in our immediate supply chain to be low. However, we remain vigilant:
- Supplier Review: We aim to work only with reputable publishers and content aggregators. We avoid engaging with any entity where we have reasonable grounds to suspect exploitative labour practices.
- Internal Awareness: As a digital-first team, our staff are encouraged to report any concerns regarding suppliers or business partners directly to management without fear of reprisal.
- Compliance: We expect all our suppliers and partners to comply with all applicable laws in their respective jurisdictions regarding labour and human rights.
This statement serves as our commitment to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains relevant to our business model.
