Tārīkh-i Zartushtiyān-i Īrān presents a broad historical account of the Zoroastrian community in Iran, centred on the writings and activities of Mānakjī Līmjī Hātariyā and researched and annotated by Hāshim Raz̤ī. The volume examines the political, economic, social and cultural circumstances of Iranian Zoroastrians in the Qājār period and also considers the links between the community in Iran and the Parsis of India. Its documentary perspective brings together information on communal institutions, legal and social restrictions, education, charitable activity, migration, correspondence and efforts at reform. Additional sections extend the narrative to the history of the Parsis from earlier periods to the modern era. The work therefore serves both as a source for Qājār social history and as a study of Zoroastrian communal life, transnational networks and minority experience, with particular value for research on religion, Iranian society and Iran–India cultural connections.
