Tārīkh-i īl-i kuhan-i Bakhtiyārī: sayrī dar qalamraw-i īl-i kuhan-i Bakhtiyārī

ʻAbd al-Ḥusayn Varnāṣirī Qandʻalī’s Tārīkh-i īl-i kuhan-i Bakhtiyārī offers an extensive historical account of the Bakhtiyārī people, their tribal organisation, settlements, leaders and political experiences across modern Iranian history. The book combines narrative history with local memory, genealogical material, documents and numerous named accounts of clans, villages and prominent figures. Its broad chronological scope includes the constitutional period, regional conflicts, state consolidation, migration, relations with central government and episodes affecting Bakhtiyārī communities in Khūzistān, Chahār Maḥāl va Bakhtiyārī and neighbouring districts. Attention is also given to social customs, notable families and changing patterns of authority within the tribe. With a large body of illustrations and documentary references, the volume functions as both a tribal history and a source collection for the study of Bakhtiyārī identity, regional history and nomadic society in Īrān.
