Gīlān dar safarnāmahʹhā-yi sayyāḥān-i khārijī is a scholarly compilation by Maḥmūd Nikūyah that serves as the eleventh volume in the Dānishnāmah-ʼi farhang va tamaddun-i Gīlān series. This work aggregates significant extracts from the travel diaries of thirteen European explorers and diplomats who traversed the northern Iranian province of Gīlān between the years 1637 and 1931. Featuring accounts from notable figures such as Adam Olearius, Guillaume-Antoine Olivier, and James Baillie Fraser, the text offers a chronological survey of the region's historical development. These narratives provide detailed eyewitness perspectives on the economic conditions, local customs, and administrative changes in Rasht and the Caspian littoral during a period of significant interaction between Īrān and the West.
