Farhang-i jughrāfiyāyī-i Sukhan

Farhang-i jughrāfiyāyī-yi Sukhan (The Geographical Dictionary of Sukhan), under the general editorship of Ḥasan Anvarī, is a reference work dedicated to identifying and documenting the diverse dialects and vernaculars of Iranian languages across the vast and ancient landscape of Iran. There is no doubt that the Persian language is a majestic river nourished by the countless streams of regional dialects and tongues, forming a shared foundation of cultural creativity over centuries. This geographical volume is part of the broader Farhang-i Sukhan dictionary series—one of the most comprehensive modern Persian lexicons—offered in both a two-volume compact edition and a full eight-volume edition. The Farhang-i jughrāfiyāyī-yi Sukhan not only preserves old and regional words but also encompasses contemporary scientific terminology and current Persian expressions. The project was a collaborative effort involving 46 contributors and 21 editors across general and specialised sections, and published by Sukhan Publications.
