Nāmah-i Tajaddud, Rūznāmah-i (Qājār) – Collection of 2 years, including 105 issues

The newspaper or Nāmah-yi Tajaddud (Letter of Modernity) was established in Tehran under the responsible management of Sheikh al-'Irāqīnzādah (a representative of the National Consultative Assembly). Its first issue, consisting of four large-format pages, was printed using lead type (by the Modern Printing Company) and distributed on Thursday, 7 Sha'bān 1343 AH, corresponding to 23 Hūt 1302 in the Solar Hijri calendar.

Nāmah-yi Tajaddud, which was founded at the beginning of the change and deposition of the Qajar dynasty, was considered the organ of the Independent Democratic Party of Iran. The board of directors of this party were the same individuals who introduced themselves as the newspaper's board of directors, all of whom were representatives of the National Consultative Assembly. In the second issue of the first year, dated 26 Hūt 1302, the board of directors published their resolution, which included the following four articles: the deposition of Ahmad Mīrzā from the throne, the amendment of the constitution by the National Consultative Assembly, the implementation of the resolution's provisions by the governors of provinces and states, and the execution of the resolution's provisions by the parliamentary faction's deputies.

The contents of Nāmah-yi Tajaddud generally consisted of an editorial regarding Iran's general situation, followed by various articles, then domestic news and news from the National Consultative Assembly, and finally foreign news. In the early issues of the newspaper, particularly strong articles were written in support of an Iranian republic and constitutional change. Telegrams from provincial inhabitants and requests for constitutional amendments were prominently featured in this newspaper. From the second issue of the first year, the translation of the novel "Raphael" (authored by Lamartine; translated by Husayn Quds, a member of the Foreign Ministry) was printed as a serial in the newspaper. After publishing thirty to forty issues, Nāmah-yi Tajaddud increased its advertisements and literary, moral, and scientific content whilst reducing its political sections.

Mr Riz̤ā Sheikh al-'Irāqīnzādah, who became known as Tajaddud after publishing Nāmah-yi Tajaddud, served several terms as a representative in the National Consultative Assembly. He was one of the upright and high-ranking judges of the Ministry of Justice and was known as an honourable and enlightened man. In Khurdād 1313 in the Solar Hijri calendar, he was appointed as the head of the Eastern Court of Appeal, and in Dīmāh 1320 in the Solar Hijri calendar, when Mr Tadayyun was the Minister of Culture, he was selected as the deputy of that ministry.
