Jāygāh-i farhang va adab-i Īrān dar īdah-i adabīyāt-i jahānī-i Gūtah va Rūkirt

This study explores how Persian literary heritage—especially the poetry of Ḥāfiz̤—shaped European intellectual and aesthetic ideals in the formation of world literature. Focusing on the writings and reflections of Goethe and Rückert, it examines their engagement with Persian texts not simply as literary admiration, but as a deliberate attempt to redefine the boundaries of literature as a universal, humanistic domain. The analysis traces how the reception of Persian poetry in 19th-century Germany contributed to the conceptualisation of Weltliteratur, positioning Persian culture as a vital counterpart in global literary discourse. The work also considers the symbolic role of Iran as both poetic source and civilisational mirror, underscoring the transformative power of cross-cultural literary exchange.
