Dīvān-i dīyālūg: sīnamā – taʼātr

Dīvān-i dīyālūg gathers selected dialogue from the cinema and theatre of Bahrām Bayżāyī, presenting lines and exchanges detached from their larger dramatic works yet arranged so that their distinctive situations and voices remain legible. Compiled by Farshīd Qulī’pūr under the supervision of ʻAbbās Razījī, the selection moves among plays, screenplays and films, allowing recurring concerns in Bayżāyī's writing to emerge through speech: power and submission, memory and history, gender, violence, performance, myth and the instability of truth. Short passages, confrontations and monologues display the rhythm and compression of his dramatic language and the way a character's words can carry social conflict as well as private emotion. The volume functions both as an anthology of memorable statements and as an invitation to revisit the complete works from which they come, offering readers an accessible route into the verbal imagination of a major figure in modern Iranian theatre and cinema.
