Pizhūhandah-i Nāmah-i bāstān: yādnāmah-i shādravān Duktur Abū al-Faẓl Khaṭībī

This commemorative volume honours the late Abū al-Faẓl Khaṭībī (1960-2023), one of Īrān's foremost scholars of the Shāhnāmah and of ancient Iranian literature. Edited by Sajjād Āyidinlū, Salmān Sākit, and Riẓā Ghafūrī, it opens with a detailed chronology of Khaṭībī's life and a bibliography of his writings, followed by a substantial interview and a series of personal tributes from colleagues including Zhālah Āmūzgār. The heart of the book is a rich collection of scholarly articles by leading specialists, the majority devoted to Firdawsī, the Shāhnāmah, and Persian epic and mythological tradition. Contributions range across textual criticism and manuscript study, the sources and reception of the epic, comparative epic studies, lexicography, and pre-Islamic religion, alongside seven previously unpublished notes and a short article by Khaṭībī himself. Together the essays reflect the breadth of his scholarship and the affection of the wide circle of researchers who learned from him.
