Sākht-i dastūrī-i zabān-i Fārsī: tavṣīf-i sākht-i dastūrī-i zabān-i Fārsī dar Masnavī by Muḥammad Pāknihād is a systematic study of Persian grammatical structure based on examples from Mawlavī’s Masnavī. The work approaches the text through descriptive linguistics and examines Persian from words and phrases to clauses and complete sentences. Its chapters discuss word classes, noun and verb groups, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, phrase structure, agreement, syntactic relations, sentence constituents, simple and compound sentences, coordination and subordination. Particular attention is given to marked constructions, ellipsis, ambiguity and patterns that may create more than one grammatical interpretation. By using a major classical Persian text as its corpus, the book combines grammatical description with close textual analysis and provides a detailed reference for students and researchers of Persian syntax, grammar and the language of classical literature.
