Tārīkh-i inqilāb-i mashrūṭīyat-i Īrān is a foundational scholarly account of the Iranian Constitutional Revolution by Dr Mahdī Malakʹzādah, son of the orator and martyr Malk al-Mutakallimīn. Raised within the constitutionalist movement, Malakʹzādah combined personal connections to its leading figures with eyewitness knowledge to produce a narrative uniting testimony with critical analysis. Structured across three books — each dedicated to a fallen hero: Malk al-Mutakallimīn, Mīrzā Jahāngīr Khān, and Sayyid Jamāl al-Dīn Vāʻiẓ — the work traces political conditions in Īrān before the revolution, the rise of constitutionalist leadership, foreign interference, and crises that repeatedly threatened the constitutional order. Key episodes include the sanctuary at ʻAbd al-ʻAẓīm, the British legation bast, the assassination of Atābak Mīrzā ʻAlī Aṣghar Khān, and the plots of Muḥammad ʻAlī Shāh against the Majlis. This second edition reproduces the first without alteration.
