Dū khaṭābah: khaṭābahʹhā-yi Sayyid Ḥasan Taqīʹzādah dar mawz̤ūʻ-i akhẕ-i tamaddun-i khārijī (āzādī, vaṭan, millat va tasāḥul)

Two lectures by the prominent Iranian constitutionalist Sayyid Ḥasan Taqīʹzādah on adopting foreign civilisation represent a landmark contribution to the intellectual history of modern Īrān. Delivered in the early twentieth century, these orations — gathered under the themes of freedom, homeland, nationhood, and tolerance — capture a defining moment in Iranian modernist thought, when reformers debated the scope of cultural engagement with the West. Taqīʹzādah, a towering figure of the Constitutional Revolution, argues for selective but thoroughgoing modernisation, advocating the adoption of Western science, political institutions, and civic values within an Iranian national identity.
